Dumpster Placement Tips

Many homeowners use the summer months to clean up their home and get rid of unwanted items. This may require the use of a dumpster. Before ordering the delivery of a dumpster, you will first need to figure out if one can be placed on your property. Here are some dumpster placement tips that may help.

  1. Hard Surface
Dumpsters should be placed on a hard surface such as asphalt. As you fill the dumpster, the weight of the container may cause it to sink down into the dirt or grass and make it difficult to remove. Therefore, soft surfaces such as dirt or grass are not optimal locations.
  2. Overhead Wires
Roll off dumpsters are delivered by a truck. The container is tilted as it is released from the truck. It is important that there are no low hanging overhead wires in the area where the dumpster will be placed.
  3. Clearance
Make sure there is ample space around the dumpster. The truck will need this space to manoeuvre the container into place. You will also need this room to access the dumpster yourself. If you plan on using the swing door of the container, be sure to leave enough clearance for the door to be opened.
