Massachusetts winters can be harsh. If you need to rent a dumpster during the winter, you may experience some additional challenges. Here are some Massachusetts winter dumpster rental tips to consider.
Consider Dumpster Placement
You must always give some thought to the placement of a dumpster on your property, but it is even more important during the winter. Keep in mind the potential for snow storms. Place your dumpster in an area that won’t interfere with your snow shoveling/plowing. Don’t place it in an area that you normally need to use for piling up the snow. Make sure that you will be able to easily access the dumpster for use. Lastly, ensure that the dumpster can be easily picked up even with snow accumulation around it.
Account for Added Dumpster Weight
Your dumpster rental normally has certain restrictions. You must not overfill the dumpster, which makes transporting it unsafe. You must also stay within a certain weight limit to avoid incurring additional charges. That weight can be affected by snow and ice. For roll-off dumpsters, you may want to cover the dumpster with a tarp or clear out some of the snow (assuming it is safe to do so) before the dumpster is picked up and weighed. If it is not feasible to do either, then be conscious of how much waste you are adding. Account for the added weight of any snow and ice. For smaller projects, it might be better to rent a front-load dumpster which comes with a cover.
Time Your Drop-off and Pickup with the Weather
Harsh weather may make it difficult to plan your Massachusetts winter dumpster rental. If you are planning a specific project and anticipate needing a dumpster for only a short period of time, take a look at the forecast. Try and work around any major predicted storms.
